PreAuthorization
Pre-authorize payments before final capture
Overview
PreAuthorization is a two-step payment flow. First, place a temporary hold on the customer's account. Later, capture the approved amount or cancel the hold. This is useful when the final charge may change.
Hotel reservations
Hold funds at check-in and charge the final amount at check-out.
Car rentals
Pre-authorize a deposit and settle it based on actual usage.
E-commerce orders
Hold funds when an order is placed and capture them when it ships.
